Spotlight on ... Kelsey Van Blarcom!

Meet today's Spotlight recipient, Kelsey Van Blarcom!

Kelsey is a gifted musician who has worked with Quick As A Wink in many different capacities over the years. She was nice enough to answer some questions for us for today’s “Spotlight on …”segment!

QUICK AS A WINK: How have you been involved with Quick As A Wink in the past?
KELSEY VAN BLARCOM: I’ve played percussion in several Quick As A Wink pit bands, like Little Women, Jane Eyre, 42nd Street, and The Secret Garden. I was a summer student last year and worked on marketing, the Page to Stage camps, and fundraising during Avon River Days. I also helped out with rehearsal accompaniment for King Island Christmas back in 2010 and acted in that show as well. Most recently I played percussion in the pit band for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

QUICK AS A WINK: How are you involved in theatre outside of Quick As A Wink?
KELSEY VAN BLARCOM: I study music at Mt. Allison in Sackville, New Brunswick during the year and play in the pit band for all the shows done by our Garnet and Gold Musical Theatre Society.

QAAW: What theatre accomplishment are you proud of?
KVB: I co-wrote a production in high school called Apocalypse, the Musical! I worked on the script, wrote the music, and directed the production. We were originally supposed to perform it as a school musical, but the show got canceled because it covered some controversial subject matter.  We loved the show too much to give it up, though, and ended up renting out the Kings Edgehill theatre ourselves and performing the show as a one-night-only event that July [of 2012.] It was so good.

QAAW: What do you like to do in your spare time?
KVB: I play so many instruments. All the time. I also like fixing up old or broken instruments so they can be played again.

QAAW: What is a fun fact about yourself others may not know?
KVB: I know how to unicycle!

Thanks for all your hard work for Quick As A Wink Theatre Society, Kelsey! We greatly appreciate all the contributions you have made to our theatre and hope we get to work with you again in the future!
